Drawbridge, a show of new work by Chris Domenick and Anne Pearce. Focusing primarily on figure, landscape, and still life, Domenick and Pearce construct from within a traditional framework in order to challenge the way we look at and assign meaning to images.

Domenick's landscapes and still life deflect absolutes through a grammar of familiar forms, and an exploration of physical, atmospheric, and illusionistic space. Employing an accessible vocabulary - which the viewer can enter freely - ubiquitous materials are transformed by their two-dimensional plane, or unnaturally cover the surface of a familiar object. Domenick's subject matter materializes as images, objects, textures. New drawings in carbon pencil rendered as plywood and ball point pen as marble sabotage the subject itself, enriching and then undermining their referent, suggesting - if only momentarily - a perceptual freedom.
