"Summertime: Illustrations from the Golden Age" is a compilation of artists’ works featuring a variety of classic summer activities such as bathing, fishing, horseback riding, and scenes of summer romance, all created during the first half of the twentieth century. The selected artworks have appeared as magazine covers, advertisements, and story illustrations by important illustrators such as Norman Rockwell, Howard Chandler Christy, J.C. Leyendecker, John Falter, Jessie Willcox Smith, N.C. Wyeth, and John Lagatta among others from the Golden Age of American Illustration. The artists of the Golden Age best captured the trends of the season with paintings that portray a moment of American history, frozen in time and irreplaceable, these illustrations are to be savored along with the beauty expressed.
