Gallery in The Chelsea 22nd area
Yancey Richardson opened her gallery in 1995 with a one-man show of Sebastiao Salgado. Following ten years as an art dealer, in the renowned 560 Broadway building in historic Soho, the Yancey Richardson Gallery is now located in the heart of New York City’s Chelsea art district. The gallery's current programs include critically recognized, emerging photographers such as Lisa Kereszi and David Hilliard, in addition to established mid-career artists such as Mitch Epstein, Esko Mannikko, Hellen van Meene and Andrew Moore.
Yancey Richardson brings 15 years of experience as a private dealer to the gallery's aesthetic thrust of mounting exhibitions of vintage and contemporary fine art photography. The gallery has exhibited the works of established photographers including Kertesz, Eggleston, Ed Ruscha and Robert Mapplethorpe. Reviews of the gallery's exhibitions have appeared in both local and national publications including the New York Times, The New Yorker, Art News, Art in America, and Artforum.
The gallery assists both beginning and veteran collectors in locating, buying and selling photographs of all 20th Century established and emerging photographers.
